About MADD
Mothers Against Drunk Driving is a 501(c)(3) non-profit grass roots organization with more than 600 chapters nationwide. MADD is not a crusade against alcohol consumption. Our focus is to look for effective solutions to the drunk driving and underage drinking problems, while supporting those who have already experienced the pain of these senseless crimes.
We provide court monitoring, court accompaniment, grief sessions, victim impact panels and home visits. We are available most of the day or night for people to reach us. Sometimes people just want to talk to someone that has went through what they are going through. If you've never been through something this tragic, it is hard to say that you know how they are feeling.
We have a hotline that people can call and we try to do a 24hr. turn-around response on it. All of our members are volunteers. We have no paid staff. We also offer our assistance in the Pulaski, Texas, Crawford, Dent and Maries Counties. MADD is not only an organization for mothers or women, but we also have male members. You do not have to be a victim in order to be a member of this organization. What we are trying to do is to prevent other people from going through the same thing as we did, by educating and teaching them what can happen to you and your family members if you do not think before you drink and drive. Our hotline number is 573-341-5858.
Our meetings are held on the third Thursday of the month unless that
is the holiday weekend then it would be held on the 2nd Friday of
the month. Our meetings are at 6:30 p.m. and are held at the
following address: Guaranty Land and Title Office, 406 N. Main St.
Victim Impact Panels are held the second Tuesday of the month at the
Phelps County Courthouse at 6:30 p.m. for sign in. Meetings are open to the
public.
